Pupils at a local primary school have received life-saving skills training from a member of the Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance team.
Children in Years 1 to 6 at Bowerhill Primary received the training from Alex Winchcombe of the charity in October, where they learnt how to respond to an emergency.

Headteacher Chris Light said, “It’s important for many reasons. First and foremost, it could potentially be life-saving. Having an awareness of what to do in an emergency and having someone as specially trained as Alex delivering this to our children is a memorable experience. This has been in the news recently with pupils who could have saved their own parents’ lives had it been taught in school. We are trying to be at the forefront of this.
“It’s also important because our parents want us to teach this to their children. When we redesigned our curriculum in 2022, they were clear that they wanted their children to learn this as part of a programme of ‘real life’ skills. This experience is an essential part of our ‘7 in 7’ for personal development.”
