AFTER eight years without a hair cut, Carnival Butterfly Princess, Grace Povey, has donated 15 inches of her hair to charity and raised over £500.
Grace, who is now 8-years-old, wanted to donate her long locks to The Little Princess Trust who make wigs for children who have lost their own hair through illness.
Grace said, “I was quite nervous just before the lady cut my hair but I still wanted to do it for all the poorly girls and boys.”
Grace’s grandmother, Yvonne Brightwell said, “We are all very proud of her, what she has done is amazing and very brave. I was very shocked when she told me what she wanted to do but at the end of the day, her hair will grow back.”
Grace’s mum, Michelle Brightwell said, “She told me she had seen on the TV a girl donating her hair to the charity and that she wanted to do the same. I told her to think about it properly first, but a week or so later she still wanted to do it.
“She was quite emotional just before and I thought she might change her mind but she was brilliant. I’m so proud of her. Her hair will grow back but there are so many children her age whose hair won’t because of illness. She really wants to help other children.”
