There will be no waste or recycling collections on 25th December, 26th December and 1st January 2016, and all collections between Christmas Day and Friday 8th January will be rescheduled.
All bins will be emptied as per the usual timetable up to and including Thursday 24th December. All collections from then onwards will be rescheduled for the first working day after the usual collection day.
Garden waste collections will be suspended completely from Friday 25th December and restart on Saturday 9th January, before normal collections for all bins resume on Monday 11th January.
You can check your revised waste and recycling collection dates and print off your waste calendar online at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/waste
All household recycling centres will be closed from 1pm on 24th December, and also all day on 25th December, 26th December and 1st January. Outside of these dates, normal opening hours apply – Bowerhill will be open 10am to 4pm from Thursday to Monday.
A Wiltshire Council spokesperson said, “Please note that all household recycling centres are likely to be very busy over the Christmas and New Year period. Remember you can put out extra black box recycling by your box in separate plastic bags. Second black boxes and blue lidded bins are also available to any resident free of charge.”
The following Christmas items can be recycled:
• In your blue lidded recycling bin: Christmas cards, cardboard tubes, wrapping paper (not foil or plastic).
• In your black box – chocolate and biscuit tins, clean foil, including cake cases and washed foil turkey trays, Christmas card envelopes.
• If you have paid to have your garden waste collected at home you can leave your real Christmas tree alongside your garden waste bin for collection between 9th and 31st January only. Alternatively they can be recycled at any of Wiltshire’s 11 household recycling centres.
