AS we prepare to celebrate this festive season, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a remarkable year for our community. Once again, Melksham has shown incredible strength, spirit and togetherness, making our town a place we can all take pride in.
This year, Melksham Town Council has worked tirelessly to deliver projects that make a difference to everyone. From improving our parks and green spaces to supporting local events and initiatives, 2024 has been a year of positive growth.
One project I’m particularly proud of is the beautiful lighting in King George V Park. My heartfelt thanks go to Paul Weymouth of Light Fantastic, whose design has been warmly received by so many. It’s a shining example of how local talent can transform our town.
Of course, 2024 has not been without its challenges. We faced significant flooding in January, and again more recently – some of the worst since 1968. The council remains committed to standing by our residents and offering support where it’s needed most. I want to take this opportunity to thank our incredible officers, who work tirelessly to keep Melksham moving forward.
But above all, this year’s success is down to you – the residents, businesses, and volunteers who go above and beyond to make Melksham the vibrant, welcoming town it is. Please take a moment to celebrate all we’ve achieved together.
On a personal note, this year has been a special one for my family. My wife, Rebecca, and I were delighted to welcome our second child, Lincoln, in November. With our toddler, Teddy, now joined by his baby brother, Christmas in our house will certainly be lively!
As the festive lights illuminate our town, let them remind us of the warmth and generosity that define Melksham. Let’s celebrate this season with joy, kindness, and hope for the year ahead.
On behalf of Melksham Town Council, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
