THE resident organist at St. Anthony’s Church, Chris Clifton, is retiring after 32 years of playing the organ for the church choir and its parishioners.
Father Vincent Curtis said, “Chris is a talented musician, composer and singer. Over the years he has guided and taught a choir of amateur singers.
“We at St Anthony’s are really grateful to him for his loyal service to the church and music. We wish him well in his retirement and hope it is a long and happy one!
“On behalf of St Anthony’s parish, Melksham, I would like to thank Chris for his many years of loyal service to our parish as resident organist.
“Chris has a great knowledge of music and has written some compositions of his own. He also has a good sense of liturgy and chooses appropriate hymns and music for our Masses.
“We are sorry to lose his talents as he steps down from this important role.”
The church is now seeking an organist to take Chris’ place. For more information, contact St. Anthony’s Church – https://st-anthonyofpadua.weebly.com/
