Melksham Assembly Hall will be holding its first comedy showcase night on Friday 20th May at 8.00pm, as it continues to build its reputation as the place to go locally for live comedy.
Featuring George Lewis, Dave Fulton and Mark Olver, the evening promises a great opportunity to see three top class but less well-known comedians in a cabaret setting.
George Lewis is a top up and coming comedian who has won the Nando’s new Comedian of the Year award and the Amused Moose Laugh Off which has previously been won by Jack Whitehall and Sarah Millican among other famous names. Described as an expert comic craftsman with an intuitive subversive humour, George’s self deprecating gags will be seen to good effect at the Assembly Hall.
George is joined by Dave Fulton. Hailing from America with a wry, sardonic wit, Dave represents the tough talking, risk-taking school of American comics – intelligent, remarkably relaxed on stage and clearly out to create a bit of mischief!
The compere for the night is Mark Olver. A well-known stand-up comedian and television warm-up artist, Mark spends most of his life working, performing in comedy clubs and TV studios all over the UK, and is the regular warm-up on ‘Deal or No Deal’. Mark has also featured on a nationwide UK tour supporting Russell Howard.
The Assembly Hall’s Tim Cross said, “It’s a fantastic chance to see three brilliant comedians in a relaxed cabaret setting here in Melksham, and it’s testament to our growing reputation of having an audience and venue for hosting great comedy that we’re able to feature three comedians in one fun filled night.”
Tickets are priced at just £8 in advance or £10 on the door and are available from the Assembly Hall (tel: 01225 709887) or the TIC (tel: 01225 707424).
