THE next two films to be shown at the Melksham Monday Movies Club are Vera Drake and The Shipping News.
Vera Drake will be shown on Monday 4th March and tells the story of abortionist, Vera Drake, who finds her beliefs and practices clash with the mores of 1950s Britain, a conflict that leads to tragedy for her family.
Directed by Mike Leigh, it stars Imelda Staunton, Jim Broadbent and Heather Craney.
The Shipping News will be shown on Monday 18th March and tells the story of an emotionally beaten man and his young daughter who move to his ancestral home in Newfoundland to reclaim their lives.
Directed by Lasse Hallstrom, it stars Kevin Spacey, Julianne Moore and Judi Dench.
Doors open at 1.30pm and the films start at 2pm. There is a break for tea or coffee and a chance to catch up with friends before finishing around 4pm. Admission is by donation, with a suggestion of £4.
