GALLONS of apple juice were produced at the annual ‘Community Apple Pressing Day’ earlier this month.
The event, organised by the Melksham Community Area Partnership, saw the Melksham community come together to wash, chop and press apples from their gardens, to produce fresh apple juice to take home. There was also an opportunity to enjoy some Morris dancing, performed by Devizes Jubilee Morris Dancers.
One of the organisers cllr Kathy Iles said, “Wow! What a fabulous day! Thank you so much to everyone who came along and took part in this year’s apple pressing.
“Thank you too, to the Melksham Bowls Club for allowing us to use their venue and staffed the kitchen, Tim Carpenter (Mr Sparkles) for transporting the equipment, Teresa and Andy Strange and Matt Iles for helping to set up and pack away, Geoff Remington for bringing his homemade press, Beth Dark and Emma Strange for baked goods which raised almost £60 for the Air Ambulance and everyone else who took part and lent a hand; you are all wonderful people.”
