The sun shone on the recent 66th annual Seend Fete, which brought the community together for a traditional village event packed with fun activities and games.
The fete welcomed families and visitors of all ages, with people enjoying adventure workshops, an artisan market, face painting, a petting farm, a tug of war, live music and a classic car show.
“Treats flowed from stalls, with Pimm’s, fresh coffee and a host of favourites on offer throughout the day,” said Liam, one of the lead organisers.
Many people in the community pulled together to make the fete a success, including Seend School and Seend Playgroup, whose staff, students, children and families played a vital role in preparations and on the day itself.
“The fete is more than just a summer event; it’s a snapshot of our village values,” said Liam. “Having local organisations, businesses and traders so involved brought real energy and helped bridge generations, which is exactly what a village fete should do.”
This year’s Classic Car Show proved to be a standout attraction, drawing enthusiasts from near and far. Rows of polished bonnets gleamed in the sun as visitors admired vintage vehicles and chatted with proud owners. Following the success of this year’s show, organisers have confirmed it will return as a feature at next year’s fete.
“We’re already planning for more cars and family-friendly auto-themed activities in 2026. It’s becoming a real draw and we want to build on that,” said another organiser, Jan.
“The fete was made possible by a dedicated team of volunteers and the generosity of local sponsors. From planning and fundraising to marshalling, signage, stall coordination and pack-down, the whole event was a testament to what a village can achieve when it works together.
“We would like to thank our event sponsors, The Flyer and Melksham Tyres. Your support is truly appreciated.”
