MELKSHAM couple, Tom and Natasha Smith, battled the elements this month to complete the Three Peaks Challenge for charity.
The couple completed the challenge in 23 hours and 50 minutes, just inside the target of 24 hours, successfully scaling the heights of Ben Nevis (1,345 metres), Scafell Pike (978 metres) and Snowdon (1,085 metres) – the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales.
Their challenge helped the couple raise £700 for Dorothy House Hospice Care, in memory of Natasha’s nan, Sheila Hollies, who was cared for by the charity.
“It was an incredibly tough challenge,” said Natasha and Tom, “especially due to the terrible weather on our final climb – Snowdon was continuous hail, rain, and very strong winds making it impossible to stand at the summit for any longer than a quick picture! But we are very pleased we have completed it and raised £700 for such a good cause”
Natasha’s granddad, Barry Hollies, added that both Natasha and Tom’s families are “very proud of their achievement”.
