28 Cubs from seven packs across the district took part in the annual Chess Tournament which was held on Sunday 26th February at Melksham Scout HQ.
The event ran throughout the day with the cubs playing six games each and all of the cubs gained their Hobbies Activity Badge.
The District Shield was won by Warminster cub, Alexander Green; second place was 1st Bowerhill cub Marshall Randall and three cubs tied for third place – David Bentley, 1st Bowerhill; Samuel Croft, 1st Hilperton ‘Harriers’ and Noah Jarmal, Melksham ‘Slindon’.
“The day was busy and very competitive and it was a close-run competition,” said district commissioner Christine Broom, who organised the event assisted by several leaders and parents. “The winner and runners up all received a medal and all participants received a certificate. The day was once again a great success and enjoyed by everyone.”
