The final decision on the design for the 450 homes being built on land off Snowberry Lane is due to be made on Wednesday 5th December, at a meeting of the Strategic Planning Authority at County Hall in Trowbridge.
The application has been called to committee by local councillor Jon Hubbard who has said how disappointed he is by the lack of engagement with local residents on the design of the proposed houses, and the “unacceptable proximity of the 3-storey flats to the Listed wall and single-storey homes on Farmhouse Court.”
Cllr Hubbard is encouraging residents to attend and speak at the meeting to ensure that councillors making the decision are aware of how concerned local people are about the design of the proposed buildings.
He said, “I’m really disappointed about how the developer has not listened to, or really spoken to local residents about this and I hope that the council will listen to local residents’ reasonable concerns. We have not opposed the development – houses need to be built – but they need to be built sympathetically to the community and surrounding area.”
