MELKSHAM teenage singing sensation, Courtney Buchanan is set to launch her debut album.
The 2013 Teenstar finalist’s debut album contains six originals and five covers and she is performing all the tracks at The Pilot, Bowerhill, on Wednesday 16th October.
Courtney, who is just 15 years old, has been working with local producer Mel Austin for the last year, appearing regularly at the monthly music nights he promotes at The Pilot and recording tracks co-written with him during fortnightly sessions at his studio in Beanacre.
In January, she entered the new national Teenstar competition and progressed through the audition stage to the area and regional finals where she again progressed through to the grand final. The final took place at the O2 Arena in London in July. The winner of the final was Luke Friend, who is currently one of this year’s X-Factor contestants.
Courtney’s album represents both sides of her music, with covers showing her talent of interpreting other people’s songs. These include Adele, Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Christina Perri and Lana Del Rey. The album also includes her own original numbers. Her own songs represent a wide spectrum of chart music from Lilly Allen-style pop through to bluesier rock and R’n’B.
The evening will begin at 8.00pm with open mic sessions and performances from other young Pilot regulars. Courtney’s headline session begins at 9.00pm with all tracks from the album being performed to backing tracks or as live versions.
Entry is free and Courtney’s album will be on sale on the evening, with the opportunity to get an autographed copy.
