MELKSHAM’S deputy mayor, cllr Sue Mortimer, was out and about raising money for Comic Relief’s on Red Nose Day, whilst dressed as a clown on what also happened to be her birthday!
Sue visited the Conservative Club and Liberal Club where she said the skittles teams gave generously. “The total I raised from family and friends’ donations and the clubs’ collections was £265.10,” she said.
“Many thanks to all who so willing donated especially as we are in a cost-of-living crisis. Apologies to the lady in the Liberal Club who has a fear of clowns (quite common apparently); I hope I did not give you nightmares.”
Sue also attended River Mead School who were having a pyjama day and cake sale to raise funds. She said, “In the afternoon I attended the school as usual to hear the children of year 3 read. They raised £500.”
