A DERELICT former newsagents in Melksham will be redeveloped into homes after years standing in poor condition on a road into the town.
The former Bath Road Stores on the corner of Bath Road by Cooper Tires, as well as the building behind it, will be converted into maisonettes after planning permission was given last month.
The buildings, at 2 The City and 63 Bath Road, are thought to date back over 200 years, but are not listed.
The shop-front building on the main road is described as being in ‘poor condition’ and in need of a ‘substantial degree of works’ before it can be used again.
The renovation is part of the owner’s plan to upgrade the outside of the whole block of buildings.
