MELKSHAM residents are being urged to donate their old pound coins to help Barnardo’s change the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children.
The charity’s store in Verbena Court, behind the Water Meadow restaurant, is collecting the money before it ceases to be legal tender on 15th October 2017.
Helen West, manager of the Melksham store said, “Barnardo’s works to transform the lives of the UK’s most disadvantaged children and every year we help thousands of families to build a better future.
“But we cannot do it without the support of the public. Every single one of the old round pound coins you donate will make such a difference to children’s lives, helping the charity to continue its vital work.
“I appeal to everyone to search their homes in aid of a worthy cause.”
Barnardo’s is issuing special ‘coin packs’ before the pounds go out of circulation, so it’s easy for supporters to donate their finds.
To order your pack simply call the supporters relations hotline on 0800 008 7005 or email supporter relations@barnardos.org.uk
Alternatively, old pound coins can be handed in at the charity’s Melksham store.
Helen added, “Of course, anyone popping in may also want to use the opportunity to clear out their cupboards and wardrobes.
“We always welcome donations of good-quality clothes, books, toys, games, accessories and bric-a-brac – as well as offers of help from potential volunteers.”
