THERE was double celebrations for Broughton Gifford’s Andy Abrams at a recent racing competition.
“The weekend of the 9th to 10th of July saw a great weekend of motorsport held at Thruxton in Hampshire which saw trucks, pick ups, open top sports cars, classics, along with classic touring cars from various eras,” reports Paul Korkus.
“Local competitor Andy Abrams competed in the Classic Touring Car Championship driving his Honda Civic Type R in the pre 2003 class. Anthony Reid who back in 1998 and 2000 finished in second place in the British Touring car championship and notched up 15 wins in this championship, also competed in this race in his Nissan Primera. He notched up first and second places in his two races in the super Tourers class.
“Meanwhile lower down the leader board, Abrams had some great dices in his pre 2003 class and finished 20th overall in his first race and 19th overall in his second race. This result gave him a pair of second in class finishes and he was pleased with these results.”
