To celebrate National Walking Day, Melksham’s Lowbourne Osteopaths are organising a free one-hour guided circular walk leaving from the River Mead Primary School car park at 10am on Tuesday 1st May.
Regular walking has huge health benefits – from lowering your blood pressure to reducing your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The NHS recommends 150 minutes of weekly exercise, including a daily 10-minute brisk walk to improve your overall cardiovascular health. There are free apps such as Active 10 or Map my Walk which will keep track of how far and how fast you’ve walked – it’s great motivation to get moving.
“So come along and enjoy a healthy walk with others as part of National Walking Day. This free walk will be led by osteopath, Marianne Carpenter, who will be happy to answer any questions during the walk that walkers might have about health, pain or joint-related issues. Book your place by ringing Lowbourne Osteopaths on 01225 704883 or email lowbourne osteopaths@gmail.com www.nhs.uk/Livewell/ getting-started-guides/ Pages/getting-started-walking.aspx. www.niddk.nih. gov/health-information/ weight-management/walking-step-right-direction
