A MELKSHAM business raised over £13,500 for the Alzheimer’s Society at a Great Gatsby themed ball earlier this month, after the CEO’s granddad was diagnosed with the condition recently.
GripIt Fixings, which has its factory on Hampton Park West business park in Melksham, hosted a charity ball on the 5th of November in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society.
The ball managed to raise over £13,500 for the charity, which funds care and research into dementia.
The company’s founder and CEO Jordan Daykin was inspired to raise money for the charity after his granddad, Stan, who helped him invent the plasterboard fixing which has grown into a multi-million pound business, was diagnosed with the condition earlier this year.
21 year-old Jordan says, “The evening was a great success and I can’t believe how much money was raised on the evening. I would personally like to thank everyone who came as the evening wouldn’t have been the same without you there. The cause is something that’s very close to me and my family, due to my granddad Stan recently being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Therefore knowing that my family, friends and work colleagues can raise such a great amount gives me great pleasure in hosting events like this.”
