LOCAL estate agent, Lee Emery, has raised over £5,500 for charity on his 50th birthday.
On his milestone day, Lee swam 84 lengths of the Melksham Blue Pool, cycled 84 miles on his road bike, and rounded the challenge off with a 8.4 km run.
Lee raised a total of £5,693 for Parkinson’s UK – smashing his original target of £2,500 – in memory of his stepfather, Roy Denning, who died last year at the age of 84.
“It was an early start at Melksham Blue Pool on my 50th Birthday,” said Lee. “I was warmly welcomed by the staff and accompanied by my friends, Rachal and Nick, for 84 lengths.
“Then it was straight out of the pool, onto bikes to start four circuits of 21 miles to reach the 84 miles bike ride target. I was accompanied by various friends, surprising me to support me on the circuits. Each circuit entailed some hills, which made it tougher – we completed 84 miles and 4,000ft of climbing. Straight after, I then ran/jogged/staggered the 8.4km run!
“I would like to thank everyone for their support in remembering my stepdad on my 50th birthday and raising an amazing amount of money.
“Special thanks to my family for supporting me on the day and to the following friends for turning up on a cold day: Rach, Nick, Simon, Gary, Matt, Andy and Fil.”
