The Independent Living Centre at Semington has a new accessible toilet, thanks to a generous donation from the National Lottery.
The ILC is a registered charity which gives free and impartial advice to elderly and disabled people and offers practical solutions for easier living.
Brian Wade, Chair of Trustees said, “The new toilet is conveniently sited for visitors on the ground floor between the entrance and the lift.
“The ILC has also recently opened a new Telecare Information Room. Originally there were just red button alarms but now there is a wide range of equipments and Janey will be pleased to demonstrate some that might help you live more safely at home if you are becoming a little forgetful or confused.
“The centre also has a wide range of items on display from stairlifts to jar openers that you can try. You can ring 01380 871007 to make an appointment to see one of our advisors.
“This is a free service for people who live locally and their advice will be completely impartial and without obligation. If you find it difficult to get to Semington you can telephone us and receive advice over the phone or we can send you relevant information by post.
“The centre is looking to appoint two new Trustees. If you or someone you know is interested in joining us please let us know and one of our existing Trustees will contact you for a chat about what our Trustees do.
“There are no formal requirements – the aim is to build a board of trustees with a wide range of backgrounds and skills and an interest in the work of the centre. There are five meetings a year, four in the evening and one in the afternoon for our AGM.”
