A MELKSHAM woman is holding a family fun day at the New Inn on Semington Road this weekend to raise money for the RUH in memory of a friend.
Tracie Winslow’s fun day, at the pub in Berryfield on Saturday 13th August, will run from 2pm to 11pm, with entertainment for all ages throughout the day.
Visits from Elsa and Anna from Frozen, Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper will be on the cards in the afternoon, with a photographer on hand for snaps with the stars.
Lots of activities will be provided as well including face painting, a fire engine visit, a fancy dress competition, karaoke, a raffle, tombola, cake stall, a barbecue and live music.
All money raised will be donated to the Forever Friends Appeal at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. The appeal is raising money for a new cancer unit.
Tracie said, “Pretty much everybody knows someone or knows of somebody who has had cancer.
“I have lost many loved ones to cancer, one being my dear friend Nic Robertson three years ago. She died at a young age, leaving behind three children. I was heartbroken.
“I organised a big fundraiser when Nic was ill. Sadly she died a week before the event, but I raised £3,122 in her memory.
“I felt the time was right to do another one. Nic loved spending time with her family and enjoyed seeing children happy. I thought it would be a fitting tribute to bring families together at the fun day.
“Karen and Kenny Gibbons have been incredibly supportive and agreed to let me take over the pub! Many thanks to both of them for letting me hold the fundraiser, I will be forever grateful.”
Included in the many raffle prizes are designer sunglasses, a tattoo voucher, professional photoshoots, and much more.
