MELKSHAM Messy Church enjoyed welcoming their congregation on Sunday 25th February at Forest and Sandridge School to learn about Lent.
The children and their families explored the story of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness and how his faith in God helped him overcome temptation.
After a few games, the children did a range of Lent-themed craft, including making paper parachutes, painting bread pictures with food colouring, painting greeting cards and working together on a giant Lent Journey collage. The congregation then came together for worship before enjoying a delicious meal together of shepherd’s pie followed by ice-cream cones for dessert.
Hannah Tarring, Melksham Messy Church organiser and regional coordinator for Messy Church in Wiltshire said, “It was wonderful to welcome all our families once again to Melksham Messy Church and focus on just how big God is.
“I’d like to give a big thanks to all our volunteers from the Melksham Family of Churches who make Melksham Messy Church possible each month – it’s really going from strength to strength.
“We’ll be celebrating Messy Easter on Sunday 25th March, with lots of Easter-themed craft and learning about the Easter story.”
The events are free (donations welcome) and open to all, but particularly suited to families with primary aged children and run from 4-5.30pm on the fourth Sunday of each month at Forest and Sandridge School.
