THE chair of the Melksham River and Food Festival recently paid a visit to a local Brownies group to reveal the winners of a competition to design the front cover of the programme for the event.
Adrienne Westbrook, who is also the town mayor, announced to the 3rd Melksham Brownies, that group members Ellen Harrold and Katy Hutchinson had won the contest, bagging themselves a golden ticket each for them and their families to the festival on the 1st and 2nd September.
The golden tickets will allow the two families access to a number of attractions at the festival, including the Cooper Tires wire challenge, a traverse wire spanning the river and running along the bank, and the climbing wall.
There was more news for winner Ellen when she was told that her design would be the one printed on the front cover of 10,000 copies of the programme, expected to hit homes around Melksham in mid-July.
“We chose Ellen’s design to be on the front cover of the programme as it captures everything about the river and festival,” said Adrienne. “It was a marvellous effort from all the Brownies and it was a very tough decision to pick the winner.”
Ellen and Katy’s fellow Brownies didn’t go home empty-handed that evening, with Adrienne bringing plenty of chocolate for the group to share in celebration of the girls’ success.
The 3rd Melksham Brownies meet Tuesday evenings from 6pm – 7.30pm and are always in need of volunteers to help facilitate the group. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the group.
