RIVERMEAD School has received a brand new minibus from The Lord’s Taverners, the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity.
The school successfully applied for the minibus on behalf of their 20 resource-based students and 13 mainstream students with disabilities, but it will be used by all students at the school and shared with the other schools in the Mead Academy Trust.
Students met with Debbie Gregory from The Lady Taverners, for the official handover of the minibus last month.
The minibus will be used to facilitate a wide range of learning opportunities for the school’s pupils, helping to increase their confidence and independence. Activities will include hydrotherapy sessions, visits to the swimming pool and Larkrise, and other external activities.
Since 1976, the Lord’s Taverners have been donating accessible minibuses to schools in the UK. The scheme is just one of many initiatives The Lord’s Taverners offers. To find out more about the charity, go to www.lordstaverners.org
