IT is two weeks to go and the Melksham Food and River Festival committee are busy finalising the last bits and pieces for this year’s event.
“Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September are the dates to put into your diaries,” says organiser, Adrienne Westbrook, “The festival will open at 10.30am on Saturday and Sunday. With free entry you can bring the family down to enjoy the entertainment and wander around the 80 plus stalls. Don’t forget you can park for free in the Cooper Tires car park.
“Enjoy some fantastic food and have a few drinks from our new brewer Ramsbury Brewing & Distilling, an incredibly sustainable craft brewer that makes beer on their estate in Ramsbury. The water, electrics and grain are all sourced on their estate.
“The festival will have all the usual mix of singing, dancing, fairground rides, boat rides, water activities, a zip wire; in-fact, something for everyone. On Saturday there will be on-field entertainment from Arthur Plumb, a unicycling fire eating juggler. On Sunday the on-field entertainment is from the Bath magician Grant Maidment.
“This year we are delighted to be incorporating the Cricketer’s Café into the festival. They will be selling their fantastic range of food as well as being our main ice cream seller.
“On Sunday we are working with the town council to host the Town Criers’ Competition. The winners of Melksham’s gardens competition will also be awarded their prizes.”
