MELKSHAM & District Historical Association is inviting all residents to join them in 2022 to learn more about the history of the town.
“Melksham & District Historical Association was formed in 1962 to promote interest in the local area, explains committee member Philip Moore. “Meetings and presentations are held in the Assembly Hall at 7.30pm on the third Thursday of the month in January, February, March, and April.
“May and June are visits to local places of interest. July is usually an outing to a place of interest further afield. September and October, we return to the Assembly Hall, and November is the Annual General Meeting and social evening.
“Meetings are well attended by members plus an average of 20 to 30 visitors.
“However, membership numbers are dropping mainly because of increasing age. The committee work hard to keep talks and visits of interest.
“With the amount of new homes being built in Melksham, are there new residents who would like to join us and learn more about their town and surrounding area? Visitors (£3 per visit) and members (£17 per year) are always welcome.
“Perhaps some would like to join the committee, bring new ideas and keep the Association running for many more years.”
