After consulting on bus fares in Central Bristol First Bus group changed their fare structure after 7000 people responded to their consultation.
Now after a successful consultation, First have decided to consult those in its West of England area on the service it provides and its fares.
Ellie Pullen, former Member of Youth Parliament for West Wiltshire, has been working with councillor Horace Prickett to spread awareness of the consultation. Ellie, 17 years old, commented, “Transport costs are an issue for many young people who often cannot afford to use the services provided. During my three years in the UK Youth Parliament transport costs were an issue that came up time and time again. Many transport companies charge adult fares from the age of 16 even though you are not legally classed as an adult until the age of 18.
“After previously consulting in the Bristol area First made changes to the fare structure, they are now consulting across the West of England area. This is an opportunity for young people to raise their concerns and hopefully in return receive a ‘fair fare’.”
The consultation can be found at the following address until 16th March – response.questback.com/firstgroupplc/fairerfaresforall
