A FOLK music concert for older people was held at the Riverside Centre on Tuesday 14th March, organised by Celebrating Age Wiltshire.
Residents packed out the centre to watch Ribble, a fiddle and guitar duo from Salisbury.
At the start of the concert, a representative from Celebrating Age Wiltshire asked for the audience to give their feedback about the event, to enable more of these events to happen, bringing arts and culture to older people in the day at local venues.
Sue Mortimer, one of the organisers, said, “We would like to thank Rebecca Seymour and Lucy Simms from Celebrating Age for putting on the free event. It means so much to the people of Melksham to have such brilliant entertainment available locally and in the daytime.
“60 people attended the event where there was plenty of clapping, foot stamping and laughter to the great folk music provided by Ribble. Thank you also to Kerry Jeffries for baking the delicious cakes and Karen Stroud and Pat Aves for making the teas.
“Looking forward to the next event on Tuesday 13th June with The Paul Hutchinson Trio – folk music and spellbinding storytelling.”
