Organisers of the Food and River Festival have said they are still receiving positive feedback about this year’s event.
Despite grey skies, a great turnout ensured that the stalls, activities and river events were very well supported.
The event would certainly have been much more difficult to get off the ground without the involvement and support of the sponsors, Waitrose in Melksham,” said Festival Chair, Adrienne Westbrook.
“Waitrose not only sponsored the event but they also allowed us to access their green token system which raised over £1000 to put towards the festival.
“Once again we have enjoyed working with such a community based supermarket who contribute throughout the year to improving our local community. Waitrose representatives have attended our committee meetings over the past year and have always been prepared to give us advice about what attractions work for community based event such as ours.”
Scarlett Benton from Waitrose said, “We really enjoyed the day and it was great to be working with the community. We got to talk to lots of customers and share the services Waitrose offer along with tastings of some new products and a chance to win a hamper. Being the main sponsor for the event we got to promote it in branch in the lead up to the big day, which was great.
“We also had Lucy Allsworth, who is one of our partners in branch, design the poster and leaflet for the event. Our stall was very busy on the day with lots of people wanting to try our products and give us some lovely feedback about the branch. The team and I really enjoyed working alongside the rest of the organisers of the River and Food Festival and promoting our brand. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved and the fantastic effort.”
