FOREST AFC will be holding a friendly match for the ‘Wacker Cup’ next month to end the season, in memory of their manager Stephen ‘Wacker’ Wakefield, who died suddenly last year.
The match will be held at Forest Community Centre on Saturday 21st May – the day of the FA Cup final – kicking off at 1.30pm. The FA Cup game will then be shown in the community centre, with food and drink available.
Club chairman Ben Johnson came up with idea. He said, “It will just be a friendly game between two sides from Forest and some of Wacker’s friends.
“This season has been really difficult for the team because of Wacker’s death, so I thought this would be a good end to the season and nice way to remember him.
“I’m stepping down as chairman this year, but hopefully the cup is something that will keep going in the future to mark everything that Wacker did for the club and all the hard work he put in.”
The match will be free to attend and families are invited to go along for the afternoon. Check the Forest AFC Facebook page for updates.
