FOREST Road will be closed in sections throughout January and most of February as pavement works are carried out.
The work, which will include resurfacing of the footway, kerb repairs and ironwork adjustments, is expected to take from Monday 4th January until Friday 19th February, during which time Forest Road will be closed in three phases.
From Monday 4th to Thursday 21st January the road will be closed between Sandridge Road and Murray Walk. From Friday 22nd January to Tuesday 2nd February the road will be closed between Murray Walk and Awdry Avenue. Then from Wednesday 3rd to Friday 19th February the road will be closed between Awdry Avenue and Church Lane.
A diversion will be in place, taking traffic for the Forest area along Sandridge Road and Church Lane.
Assistant engineer for Atkins, Daniel Ward said, “During the works period, access to enable residents and businesses to enter and egress from their property will temporarily be restricted due to site operations.
“The contractor will endeavour to minimise this, although due to the nature of the works disruption is inevitable, therefore on some occasions you may only be able to gain access to your home by parking in the closure and walking to your property.
“Dedicated traffic management operatives will monitor access and give motorists assistance; please communicate with the site staff regarding access concerns in advance.
“During the closure, Frome Minibuses Town bus 14 will not be able to use Forest Road so will access Awdry Avenue and Littlejohn Avenue via Church Lane. Unfortunately, First bus 271/272 will not be able to serve Forest Road or Church Lane and instead will use Sandridge Road. Further information will be erected at bus stops around the Forest Road vicinity a few days before the works are due to commence.
“I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience these works will cause, but trust you will appreciate the necessity for these essential works to maintain Wiltshire’s highway network.”
