A NEW free weekly baby and toddler group is up and running after a successful launch event at Melksham United Church.
Local volunteers have set up the group which is called ‘Little Gems’ and opened its doors for the first time on Thursday 6th November for a launch event that was attended by many local parents and their children.
The group will be held every Thursday from 10.00am-11.30am at Melksham United Church.
The group includes free play, crafts, snacks and singing as well as teas and coffees for adults. It is open to anyone with pre-school children to look after. Volunteer Natalie Willis said, “The turnout and support we have had has been amazing. We were hoping for good numbers but we couldn’t have imagined that as many would come and see what we are about as they did.
“We felt there was a lack of groups for people with pre-school children in the area, with the nearest option on a Thursday in places like Chippenham or Trowbridge. As we will be based in the centre of the town it will be easy for most people to get to. We will have lots of new equipment and toys/books and are looking forward to it being a great success! It also has the added bonus of being free!”
