A MELKSHAM opticians focussed on children’s safety by handing out high-visibility vests to youngsters visiting the town’s Christmas Fayre on Saturday.
The team from Specsavers in Bank Street were on hand at the fayre to give children free hi-vis vests, helping them to stay safe – and visible – during the darker winter months.
“Now that the nights have drawn in, it’s important that we help children to stay safe when out and about,” says Martyn Thomas, store director at Specsavers in Melksham.
“One way of doing that is to help them remain visible to drivers, so these hi-vis vests will certainly do that and hopefully give parents some peace of mind too.
“The fayre is a fantastic opportunity to remind parents and children about the importance of road safety.”
As a co-sponsor of Road Safety Week (23-29 November) – the annual event organised by Brake – Specsavers is equipping youngsters with high-visibility vests and raising awareness of life-saving road safety messages.
