FREE parking in town centre car parks will be available on Saturday 29th June.
A spokesperson for the town council says, “Melksham Town Council is thrilled to announce that good news does in fact come in threes, with confirmation that the dual festivities of the Makers’ Market (Melksham’s monthly summer arts, crafts and bakes fayre held outside the Town Hall) and the annual carnival will now be buttressed by the freedom to park in King Street, Church Street and Lowbourne car parks free of charge throughout the day.
“This represents a third of Wiltshire Council’s allocation of free parking spaces handed to towns every year, which will be followed by two further days where folks can leave home in their cars safe in the knowledge that with or without correct change, they’ll have a legitimate parking space for the day.
“These will fall on Saturday 27th July and Saturday 21 September – both of which coincide with the Makers’ Market. The last weekend in July will also see Melksham celebrate the opening of our very own splashpad at the top of King George V playing field, so it will be an exciting mid-summer for any Melksham resident or visitor who fancies a drive, free parking, a hand-made card, and a cheeky splash-about. Seize the moment, people!”
