THIS year’s Melksham Christmas Lights Switch-on event is scheduled to go ahead.
There was some speculation that the switch-on event, which can attract thousands to the Market Place, might not go ahead when the volunteer group, Melksham Christmas Lights Group, asked locals if they should err on the side of caution and have a low-key unpublicised switch-on, similar to last year.
However, after discussions with the town council, Melksham Christmas Lights Group say that the current plan is for the switch-on event to go ahead.
The volunteer group say that the plans are “full steam ahead” and there are plans to build on last year’s dazzling display that helped bring Christmas cheer to the town in the depths of the pandemic.
