A FUN day held at Melksham’s New Inn recently raised nearly £1,800 for the RUH in memory of a local woman.
The afternoon of family fun was organised by local woman Tracie Winslow to raise money for the Bath hospital’s Forever Friends Appeal.
It was the latest in a number of events in memory of popular local woman Nic Robertson, who died in 2013.
Tracie said, “The fundraiser was a massive success! We raised £1,738.03. I’d never organised a fundraiser alone and it was on such a big scale, so I was overwhelmed by the amount of people that attended on the day.
“Karen and Kenny Gibbons and Lisa and Mike from the New Inn were amazing and went above and beyond just allowing me to use their pub for the day.
“So many people donated raffle and tombola prizes, baked cakes and sold raffle tickets. The businesses in Melksham were really supportive, and friends who helped on the day were priceless. Special thanks must go to Chloe, Louise, Josh and Cameron for wearing the character costumes on such a hot summer’s day; you put a smile on many children’s faces!
“I would also like to thank Jan from Forever Friends with Big Ted, Blaze photography, Gemma for the face painting, Steve for attending with the fire engine, Angel the Owl and her handlers and the many singers who performed. It was fantastic to have so much live music.
“Special thanks must go to Brian for the use of the PA, Apollo Light and Sound for helping me out at the last minute, Sign Marketing, and Sultans of Swingers for the fabulous set they performed. Finally, I couldn’t have done it all without Paul, Lisa and Naomi. Words aren’t enough to thank them for all the help and support they gave me. I’m truly grateful.
“A big thanks to everybody who attended and supported this event. I know the Forever Friends Appeal are thrilled with the amount we raised for them.”
