A charity football match held at Oakfield Stadium recently raised £3,500 for three charities.
This was the second time the match has been held in Melksham, where two teams went head-to-head in a fun football match in aid of charities – Dorothy House, The Ben Saunders Foundation and Neuroendocrine Cancer UK.

The teams were Beatables FC, set up by Trowbridge resident Kurtis Betteridge, and Fenners United, set up by local man Chris Fenwick and made up of friends, family and former non-league football players.
“It was a fantastic day and Beatables FC retained our charity match trophy with a 5–3 win, the result of another exciting match in aid of the good causes,” said organiser Kurtis.
The funds raised this year exceed the £2,000 total raised during last year’s match.
Kurtis said, “In total, Beatables FC have raised over £10,000 for charity over the past four years with our charity matches, and Fenners United have raised over £4,000 themselves, so collaborating together was a no-brainer to raise awareness and funds for charities that are close to our hearts.”
Following the match, there was live music by Marty’s Fake Family. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to get the spotlight on the charities while also being able to create an event which is engaging and enjoyable for the charity representatives, players, spectators and families involved,” said Kurtis.
