THE ArtHouse Café is appealing for more volunteers.
The popular café in the Market Place is run by Melksham Rotary and raises money for a range of good causes. Currently the café is having to close every Wednesday due to a shortage of volunteers.
A spokesperson for the ArtHouse Café said, “It’s just three hours a week either 9am-12pm or 12pm-3pm. It’s a fun role serving customers and chatting to them – you do a mix of using the till, making drinks and clearing tables.
“If you think you or someone you know would like to join our lovely team email volunteer@melksham rotary.org.”
Volunteer Christine Southwood, who has donated her time to the café since June last year, added, “It’s good fun! You meet lots of people, who you can chat to and have a laugh with. There’s a real community feel between the volunteers and the customers – we have many regular customers who often come in for a chat.
“I’m self-employed, but I wanted to do something else to give back to the community. I love people, and talking to people, so this is perfect for me. I have a wonderful time and would recommend volunteering here at the café to anyone who enjoys being social. At the end of the day, if I didn’t enjoy it, I wouldn’t keep coming back. I have a wonderful time!”
