Gooding Accounts’ super- human team of Sam Gooding and Sherelyn Cowles are celebrating after running more than 450km this summer to raise funds for local charity Julia’s House Children’s Hospice.
The duo’s ‘Summer of Ultras’ saw them complete five ultra marathons, one every month between May and September. In total they raced more than 450km, the equivalent of the distance from Gooding Accounts’ Westbury Office to the Lake District.
That is not including the thousands of kilometres of training they completed including running across Wiltshire early in the morning and late into the evening come rain or shine (and even snow!)
Gooding Accounts founder, Sam Gooding said, “It has been a very busy year of fundraising at the firm and Sherelyn and I are proud to have played our part as we work towards our £50,000 target for the year. There have been plenty of chilly early morning runs and I have covered more than 2,500km since our training began back in January but all those 5am starts and kilometres run have been worth it for such a deserving charity, the work they do for our community is truly inspiring and should never be underestimated.”
The firm’s chief financial officer, Sherelyn said, “I am so pleased that we have now completed all of the ultras. Running five over five months is not an easy feat. The countless hours of training and the blisters have all been worth it to raise funds for such an amazing charity, the work they do for families across Wiltshire simply could not happen without support from the community and every penny we have raised will really make a difference.”
There is still time to donate and support the duo. Every single penny raised will go towards supporting Wiltshire based charity Julia’s House Children’s Hospice to help them continue their work for families of children with life limiting conditions across the county.
Corporate fundraiser for Julia’s House, Jo Common, said, “Every time I have talked to Sam and Sherelyn about this challenge, I have been astounded by the incredible amount of training they have had to put themselves through to achieve their goal. Their determination is truly admirable. Here at Julia’s House, we receive just 8% funding from the Government, so really do rely on public support and donations to continue to provide our lifeline of care to the most seriously ill children and their families in the local community. Huge thanks to Sherelyn, Sam, the team at Gooding Accounts and everyone who has sponsored them to help raise this wonderful total for Julia’s House.”
