THE White Hart at Atworth has a number of events lined up for the coming weeks, for all the community to get involved with.
For the White Hart’s Halloween party on Friday 26th October, four-piece band, Plan of Action, will be entertaining the ghouls of Atworth.
Formed from the great band El-Nino, Plan of Action play alternative, rock and indie music. Organisers say, “The band are making their debut appearance with us, you aren’t going to want to miss this one. Plus it’s Halloween! Fancy dress is encouraged!”
The party starts at 9pm and finishes at 11.30pm.
On Sunday 28th October, the pub will be hosting its monthly Village Get Together. For this month’s celebrations, organisers are trying something a little different with a screening of 20th Century Fox’s blockbuster film, The Greatest Showman.
The film stars big Hollywood names including Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Michelle Williams. Inspired by the imagination of P.T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman is an original musical that celebrates the birth of showbusiness and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.
Organisers say, “Come along to sing/dance/watch The Greatest Showman with us! Showing from 5pm – cinema snacks available!”
For this month’s Charity Breakfast Club on Saturday 3rd November from 9am to 12pm, the pub is asking for help to get ready for Christmas.
Organisers say, “We are working with villager Mrs Price and are aiming to make 50 Christmas shoe boxes to send off to Operation Christmas Child UK!
“We are asking for donations of kids’ toys, books, games, school supplies, colouring, toothbrushes/toothpaste, hats, scarfs, gloves, sunglasses, hair accessories, torches, sweets, etc. But most importantly shoe boxes!
“On the day we will also have a wrapping station for anybody who would like to lend a hand in wrapping the boxes, ready to be packed.
“We are taking donations now! Drop in the pub anytime between now and the day. Whether you just bring a toothbrush, or you donate £1 on the day to help pay the postage, every little helps on this one, so help us reach our target of 50 boxes.”
On Sunday 4th November, a Johnny Cash tribute act takes to the stage. Organisers say, “Kevin has a real talent, his voice lends itself seamlessly to the Johnny Cash-style, having the same depth of tone and range as the master himself. Kevin has received praise and standing applause for his live performances as the Man in Black, with die-hard Cash fans commenting that he sounds “more like Johnny Cash than Johnny Cash”.
Music plays from 4pm until 7pm.
