DO you know about The Happy Circle Day Centre for older people living independently in Melksham?
The Happy Circle Day Centre meets every Monday at Rowley Place from 10.30am-3pm and the monthly membership fee is just £1.
“There’s no need to be lonely or bored at home, there’s plenty to do and lovely people to chat to at the day centre,” says one of the organisers, Sue Thompson. “There are activities, fun, laughter and friendships. A two-course lunch made by caterers is also served, costing only £5.50, and a team of dedicated volunteers are on hand to help. Transport can also be provided for a small fee.
“There is a weekly raffle where everyone wins a prize. Each member brings a small prize up to the value of £1 and pays 50p to enter. The money raised each week goes into funds to help with outing and resources for activities.
“The Happy Circle is a ‘not for profit’ charity, grant-funded by Wiltshire Council. Additional funds are also sought from other grants and fundraising events such as the spring and autumn fairs.
“The centre is also supported by the local ‘Pat Dog’ volunteers on a regular basis, providing therapeutic time with one of their friendly dogs.”
