Melksham and District History Association visited the Radstock Museum on Thursday 16th June.
The museum preserves the industrial heritage of the Somerset coal fields and the Somerset and Dorset railway.
After a welcome by the curator, the 25 members present were able to immerse themselves in the life and times of a Somerset coal miner, reminding you how hard a life it was.
Radstock in times past was much different to how it appears now, and had two railway lines through the centre of the town, with two level crossings.
The museum also has some fine exhibits of Somerset rural life in times past and is well worth a visit. The visit was enjoyed by all present and thanks given to the curator.
