All of the churches in Melksham welcome young people, making every effort to include them in services and cater for their needs.
Most of the churches also have specific meetings for young people – please contact the ministers or visit the various church websites to find out where and when – they will be delighted to hear from you.
We live in challenging times and young people are especially susceptible to the pressures of modern life and the expectations that society puts on them – the growing number who have mental health issues has recently been highlighted in the news. There are many organisations locally and nationally who can offer help and support, for example, Young Minds www.youngminds.org.uk
The Christian faith is an anchor of stability and hope for people of all ages. I know that for myself, committing my life to Jesus Christ at the age of twelve was the best decision I ever made and has given me a frame of reference for whatever life has thrown at me in the decades since then.
The Melksham churches sometimes join together to put on special events for children and young people. August saw the third Holiday Club take place. It was a hugely successful week of fun and activities – everyone had a great time using the theme from Scripture Union’s Guardians of Ancora free game app.
Young people from a number of churches went to the popular Christian festival Soul Survivor together in August and had an amazing time learning more about what the Bible says to us today and worshipping God with thousands of other young people to awesome live music.
On 31st October the churches are putting on a Scripture Union Light Party for children aged 5-11 at Queensway Hall on Pembroke Road from 5:30-7:30pm. The main focus of the event will be to have FUN! It will begin with registration and a finger-food buffet at 5:30pm, then there will be games, craft activities, songs and stories.
All primary-school aged children are welcome to come along and enjoy the Light Party.
