HOLT Flower Festival is to be staged for the first time in over ten years.
The festival is taking place between Friday 30th August to Sunday 1st September at St Katharine’s Church.
Visitors are expected to come from all over the region to enjoy the festival. Designed by Margaret Murray, a Holt resident but famous across the South West for her work with floral art, and created by volunteer arrangers from Holt and nearby Bradford on Avon Flower Club, the festival will celebrate summer and the coming autumn in bold modern arrangements.
Organisers Margaret Murray and Jilly Heath are expecting visitors to thoroughly enjoy the festival. Margaret said, “It is a real modern display with a hint of traditional design set in a pretty Victorian church. As well as the wonderful flowers, there will also be crafts, refreshments and prints from local artists.”
Jilly added, “It will be a great event. The whole community have come together to make it possible such as local children making willow butterflies for visitors to have on arrival. Lots of cakes and refreshments were also made by local people and it is essentially a community effort.
“We decided it was about time the festival was started again after so long. There will be something for all ages and it will be a great occasion.”
The festival will be on from 10.00am-6.00pm on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st August, with the festival opening between 2.00pm-5.00pm on Sunday 1st September.
There will be craft stalls selling pottery, floral feltwork, prints, postcards, home-made cakes, teas and coffees available throughout the day. Admission is £5, with all funds raised going to St Katharine’s Church’s running fund. For more information contact Fiona Drysdale on 01225 782095 or check the website www.stkatharine sholt.org.uk.
