HOLT Youth Club will be screening a film which follows their micro adventure which they took part in last month which saw them trek through the night on foot from Seend to Holt.
14 members of the youth club were dropped in Seend in the pouring rain at 6pm, from where they walked to Holt and slept without tents in the grounds of the Courts Gardens, and then walked to Great Chalfield, arriving at 8am, clocking up 15km in total.
William, one of the members who took part said, “It was a fun experience even though the weather was bad. We helped each other keep going as it got harder, by chatting and talking about the future.”
Dolly said, “It was a brilliant way to finish the school year, especially as most of us are off to secondary school in a couple of weeks.”
Zac said, “The worst bit was getting wet feet even though I had waterproof boots. But the best bit was sleeping under the stars.”
They filmed the adventure and will show the film at an event on 6th September at Holt Village Hall with special guest, Gloucestershire-based adventurer Anna McNuff, who will be speaking at the screening.
Anna has just returned from cycling across the Southern Andes covering 5,500 miles. In 2015 she ran the length of New Zealand unsupported, carrying a 14kg backpack. She also spent seven months cycling through every state of America, covering 11,000 miles.
The talk starts at 7pm. Tickets cost £5 adults and £3 under 16s. Tickets can be bought at Holt Youth Club between 6.15-7.45pm on Wednesdays or email Rob Curtis at the foresttrailcompany@gmail.com.
