DID you know that Beanacre has its very only table tennis team that plays within the West Wilts Table Tennis League.
The team which practices at St. Barnabas church and appropriately called ‘Beanacre’ have had their fair share of success.
In the 2016/2017 table tennis season the club fielded three teams; A, B and C with each recording success and collecting a number of trophies.
After a hard fought season, The ‘A’ team (Keith Holland, Shaun Eagles, Christopher Bultitude and Paul Drage) were worthy runners-up in Division One whilst the ‘B’ team (Div. 2 Phillip Back, Steve Walker and Adam Dawes) overcame their fellow ‘C’ team in the final of the Divisional Phillips Shield. This transpired to be somewhat apt for Phillip Back who without doubt was man of the match and his personal performance resulting in the ‘B’ team’s success.
Although the ‘C’ team (Div. 2 Bob Griffiths, Sean Hughes, Mark Lambe and Ken Elborn) had to gracefully accept defeat in the Phillips Shield final, their overall consistency within Division 2 resulted in the team claiming the number one slot and crowned divisional champions, a first for the club.
Besides league commitments September to April, the club also has practice nights throughout the year. The club seek to expand and strengthen their current teams and welcome any table tennis players with league experience (male or female) to make contact with club captain Bob Griffiths as soon as possible.
