ORGANISERS are gearing themselves up for another successful Melksham Comic Con which takes place this weekend over three town centre locations.
Now in its fifth year, the annual Comic Con convention draws crowds from far and wide and this year visitors will not be disappointed. The schedule for the two-day spectacular which will be held in Melksham Assembly Hall with attractions also at the Kings Arms and the Town Hall, is packed with special guest writers and artists, workshops, games and the popular Cosplay competition on Sunday, which this year has four new categories.
Organiser and owner of local shop Komix!, Hayley Spencer said, “Preparations are going well, we’ve had a brilliant team this year, as always, and we’re looking set for a super fun weekend!
“The trophies are here waiting for the Cosplay winners to give them new homes – a whopping 12 trophies are up for grabs this year across four different categories! This year, families can enter group costumes in the brand new Family Cosplay Category – so if there’s more than two of you and you are related, you can enter. Competition entry is free as part of your ticket price too!
“Event programmes will be available from KomiX next week, and on the weekend too, where you can check out the full listings of what’s going on, including a handy floor plan of the convention hall to be able to navigate with ease, schedules for all panels, workshops and competition times and a rundown of all our special guests!
“We’re very excited about the launch of the first official Melksham Comic-Con beer on Friday 26th August at 7.30pm – our winner, Grace Mackintosh will be pulling the first pint at The Kings Arms. We have a huge amount of thanks to give to Jade and Chris at The Kings Arms for working with us and Wadworth Brewery to make this possible. The beer, Brew’s Wayne will be on pump the entire Bank Holiday weekend!
““If you’ve not been to Comic Con before, you can expect super talented artists and creators, incredible books that are fun, adventurous and inspirational, free face painting, balloon sculptures, discussion panels, a tabletop gaming room, details on the Graphic Novel Book Club run by KomiX, fantastic merchandise stalls and so much more!”
