A rare opportunity for amateur groups to stage the hit musical Joseph & The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat is being grabbed by Melksham Music and Drama Group (MMAD).
Chair of the group, Geoff Mitcham said, “The Really Useful Group has decided to offer licences to adult amateur musical groups. Up until now, it’s always been licensed to schools and youth groups but, for one year only, they have relaxed the rules and MMAD jumped at the chance.
“This is a show we’ve been wanting to do since before I joined the club and most of us have seen the show more than once, but we never dreamed we’d get the chance. So I applied as soon as I saw the advert and got accepted. We have booked the Assembly Hall for 25th and 26th September and we’ll be doing three shows with a matinee on the 26th.
“It does mean we have to use live musicians, so we will be looking for anyone who can play an instrument and might be interested in forming a small orchestra. We might also be looking at involving local choral groups and possibly schools but that still has to be decided. We would also be interested in sponsorship of any kind.”
