MELKSHAM Town Council has revealed plans for a new sensory garden/tree walk in King George V playing field – and they want your thoughts on the design.
Community engagement manager for the town council, Debbie Bentley says, “As part of this year’s works to King George V playing field, a small working party has been looking at plans for the sensory garden/tree walk and plans are now ready to view.
“The working party has consisted of the neighbouring school, South West In Bloom team, the town council grounds team, Wiltshire Sight, the Centre for Independent Living, Chris Pickett (older persons’ champion) and David Walker, who last year won an award for his ‘dementia garden’. Wiltshire Wildlife has been working with the group over the last few months to create an amazing design.
“Over the coming weeks the design will be available to view at the Town Hall, at local supermarkets and the library, where representatives will be available to talk you through the design.
“The town council is keen to get feedback on the design before any works begin. The hope is that this will very much be a community garden, and members of the public are encouraged to come forward to form part of the working party.”
The design is currently on display at the Town Hall.
